Diaries move to Cromer Library

The Wind diaries are still up at the beach shelter at West Runton, and also at the Cliff Top Cafe at Overstrand.

Thank you everyone who has contributed such lovely writings and drawings!

The diaries will be taken away on Friday November 11th, but will then be on display, along with last year’s diaries, in Cromer Library, from November 14th to 28th. Come along and contribute to the diaries there!

Wind Mapping Day!

Using the diaries, plus data collected from Weybourne, we made maps which charted the changes in wind direction over the last 3 – 4 weeks on this part of the coast. In the morning we worked on a beautiful sandy patch of beach, racing against the incoming tide. In the afternoon we worked at the bottom of the beach road, marking out the map using pieces of chalk found on the beach and then decorating with pebbles and paint made from natural pigments from the beach.

Setting up to record

Installing materials to record and share wind and weather at the shelter over the next few weeks. Visitors to the place and here online will be able to include experiences in the diary. Locals, holiday makers and students were already asking questions and adding some comments to the diary as we left.

We experienced the first exchange about wind and weather with visitors to the shelter at West Runton. The people were welcoming and encouraging, the effects of wind and rain energising. Looking forward to the following few weeks and what they will bring to the diary.
